Textiles Mexicanos

Mexican Textiles

On my recent trip to Mexico, I purchased enough textiles for every room in my house and then some, I love the beautiful bright colors and knew I could find a way of incorporating them into every corner. Textiles is one of Mexico's more important crafts as it represent the continuation of tradition as well as its blend with contemporary design and techniques. Both pre-Hispanic and colonial era style textile are still made in Mexico. In addition, many of the textile factories use machine base on old foot pedal looms from the colonial period.

Most handcrafted textiles are produced by the sixty or so indigenous ethnic groups in Mexico, who mostly live in rural areas in the center and south of the country, I love the traditional indigenous designs and patters.
