Lutah Riggs is one of the first female architects in Santa Barbara and has often gone unrecognized for her work. As a graduate of the Santa Barbara City College, she worked under George Washington Smith and became extremely influential in much of his design work.
After Smith's death, Lutah started her own firm and has contributed to many homes in Santa Barbara and Montecito. Her environmental concerns and love of the natural landscape has brought a unique and specific quality to her work.
Cheers to Lutah and her amazing contributions to Santa Barbara architecture

Some of my favorite inspirations for design and style come from photographs of Cuba. I would have loved to have seen Cuba in all it's glory during the 1950's, but I still appreciate the old charm and passion of Havana. There is still a subtle sophistication and glamour to even the most deteriorated homes there. Visiting Havana and restoring a home one day goes to the top of my list...Viva la vida and do it with ESTILO!
Bougainvillea is one of my favorite tropical plants. I love how the bright colors of orange pink and red can give any home an instant Spanish style. The plant is very low maintenance and will stay in bloom for almost all year. Put this beauty where it can bathe in the sun and give your home a little Spanish flare...

50 shades of gray
Add a cool contemporary look to your house with the color gray. Don't think of gray as depressing but a great backdrop to make other colors stand out. The color gray also allows wood tones to pop and can create a glamorous look.
